WE ARE TRACKING SHOWERS AND POSSIBLE THUNDERSTORMS LATE TONIGHT AND FRIDAY

SUNSHINE AND WARM WEATHER RETURNS THIS WEEKEND

UNSETTLED WEATHER MOVES INTO THE TRI-CITIES EARLY/MIDDLE PARTS OF NEXT WEEK

Tonight: Increasing clouds, showers developing after midnight. Lows 47-53. South wind 5-10 mph.

Friday: Showers & thundershowers likely. Breezy. Highs 67-73. West wind 10-20 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear. Lows 40-45. West wind 5-10 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny and warm. Highs 75-80.

Weather Summary:

Tonight we will see clouds on the increase with showers and possibly a thunderstorm developing well after midnight. A cold front is moving quickly from the northwest and will cross the Tri-Cities late Friday morning. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will be likely Friday morning and early afternoon and will taper off during the afternoon.

Temperatures will be warm as the skies clear for the weekend. Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny. This means a fantastic weekend for outdoor plans.

StormTrack 5 meteorologists will be tracking a developing storm system in the southern Plains states over the weekend. This system will head east through the Mississippi Valley.

Monday will be partly cloudy with the rain chances increasing in the afternoon. We could even see some thunderstorms develop as well.

The storm system will slowly head east from the Midwest. A stalled front that slipped south with the showers on Friday will lift back to the north as a warm front. Monday night into Tuesday we could see some strong to severe storms ahead of a cold front. Tuesday will be a mostly cloudy day with a good chance of rain and thunderstorms. Our meteorologists are examining the details of this system and will alert you to any potential of severe weather, should that threat develop. Right now the greatest threat appears to be from downpours from time to time Tuesday and Wednesday.

Highs will be in the lower 70s Friday, mid to upper 70s Saturday, and in the lower 80s Sunday and Monday. 70s on Tuesday and only in the 60s Wednesday. Lows will be in the mid 40s to near 50 tonight through Sunday night and mid 50s Monday night with upper 40s to lower 50s Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

You can get the latest forecast, radar, and severe weather alerts on News 5, WCYB.com, and on the StormTrack 5 weather app.

Our normal high is 70°, low 45°.
