At 1153 PM EDT...Doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. These storms were located along a line extending from 11 miles east of Parrottsville to Newport to near Sevierville...moving southeast at 45 mph. Locations impacted include... Morristown...Greeneville...Sevierville...Jefferson City...Newport... Gatlinburg...Dandridge...Pigeon Forge...White Pine...New Market... Baneberry...Parrottsville...Russellville...Mosheim...Blaine...Bulls Gap...Pittman Center...lowland...Cedar Creek and fairgarden. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Tornado Watch remains in effect for the warned area. Although a tornado is not immediately likely...if one is spotted...act quickly and move to a place of safety in a sturdy structure...such as a basement or small interior room. Severe thunderstorms produce damaging winds...destructive hail... deadly lightning and very heavy rain. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of your home or business. Heavy rains flood roads quickly so do not drive into areas where water covers the Road. If you are in the path of these storms...prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move to a shelter...preferably inside a strong building and away from windows. In addition to large hail and damaging winds...continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately! Lightning is one of natures leading killers. Remember... if you can hear thunder...you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
