  • ...Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 7 am to 6 PM EST Monday... ...Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Monday evening through Thursday morning...
  • locations...western slope counties from parts of southeast West Virginia south across southwest Virginia including the high country of northwest North Carolina.
  • Hazard types...snow and snow showers.
  • Accumulations...2 to 3 inches Monday followed by additional heavier accumulations through midweek especially along the higher western slopes.
  • Timing...snow arriving Monday morning with added periodic heavier snow showers through early Thursday.
  • Impacts...roads will become snow covered and slick Monday and remain hazardous with additional snowfall during the week.
  • Temperatures...in the 30s Monday and teens to 20s the rest of the week.
  • Wind chills...as cold as 5 to 20 below zero Wednesday night. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while driving. A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow that may impact travel.
