- portions of northwest North Carolina and southwest Virginia... including the following areas...in northwest North Carolina... Alleghany NC...Ashe and Watauga. In southwest Virginia... Grayson and Smyth.

- several locations in the watch area had as much as 3 inches of rain since Friday morning. An additional 1 to 2 inches of rainfall...due to a slow moving thunderstorm...is possible overnight. High rainfall amounts in a short period of time may produce flash flooding...especially in areas that received heavy rain Friday and earlier Saturday.
- Heavy rainfall may cause flash flooding of small streams and creeks...low water crossings...and any flood prone low-lying areas. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
