Weather Summary:
We are tracking a cold front in the StormTrack 5 Weather Center this morning. That front is west of our area and will move close enough to the Tri-Cities to bring showers and thunderstorms later today. It appears the showers and storms will increase tonight and be more likely on Tuesday. Some of these showers will hold over into Wednesday morning. We will see the showers move out of the southern Appalachians as we go through the day Wednesday.
We are also tracking Tropical Storm Alberto. This is the first Atlantic tropical storm of the season. Alberto is near Jacksonville, Florida and will start a slow turn northeastward later today. Alberto will be moving east of the Outer Banks of North Carolina Tuesday before accelerating out to sea. Alberto is not expected to increase to more than a tropical storm before weakening.
Thursday through the weekend should be very nice. Partly to mostly sunny conditions are expected for the region. We are tracking much warmer temperatures that could take us to near record highs late in the week.
Highs in the mid 80s today, mid 70s the near 80 Wednesday and low 80s Thursday. We will then warm into the upper 80s to near 90 Friday through Sunday. Lows in the mid to upper 50s tonight through Friday night and low 60s Saturday night and Sunday night.
Our normal high 77, low 53.
