Tips for getting used to new hearing aids
Getting used to new hearing aids can be a challenge for some patients. Follows these tips to make the transition a bit easier.
Allow an adjustment period: Wearing a hearing aid can take a little while to get used to. Allow yourself an adjustment period to get used to wearing the device. If the device is painful you should alert your doctor.
Getting the right volume: Most modern hearing aids will automatically select an appropriate volume when turned on. For people who want to adjust the volume manually, just make sure not to make it too loud.
Make yourself a part of conversations: Trying to listen to multiple people at once can be difficult. As a person adjusts to a hearing aid, learn how close to stand to a person who’s talking and how to read clues from the context of a conversation if you can’t make out every word.
