For the sixth time in eight races, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup series will have less than 40 cars running in a race. The preliminary entry list for Bristol was released on Monday and only 39 cars are entered. So far this season only the Daytona 500 and Texas Motor Speedway have had a full 40 car field. So what gives?
Welcome to Bristol Race week. Some of you are new here on the Backstretch Blog. So I thought I would take this time to let you know a little bit about what I do here.
They say don’t mess with Texas, but too bad NASCAR did anyway. Drivers hate repaves, even though they are a necessary part of the sport. Track surfaces don’t last forever. But the fact that the Texas Motor Speedway deiced so late in the game to do their repave, caught a lot of drivers off guard.
