Rebecca moved to the Tri-Cities in 2005 after living in Columbia, South Carolina for 5 years and working for WIS-TV.

She grew up in Canada, and got her undergraduate degree in Ontario at Queen’s University, before moving to upstate New York to pursue a master’s degree in broadcast journalism at Syracuse University.

Rebecca proudly became a U.S. Citizen in 2006.

She was the original news anchor for Fox Tri-Cities News at 10, and she began co-anchoring on WCYB in 2007.

Rebecca has worked on a volunteer project to raise money for wounded veterans that resulted in a book called Faces of Freedom: Profiles of America’s Fallen Heroes ~ Iraq and Afghanistan. The book profiles one fallen hero from each of the 50 states, D.C. and Puerto Rico, with the proceeds going to Fisher House and Wounded Warrior Project.

Rebecca and her husband Derek have two children and a rescue dog.

Kristi O’Connor is a multimedia journalist and producer for News 5 WCYB. While in school, she reported, produced and anchored for the school TV station and served as editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper.

Maggie Smolka graduated Magna Cum Laude from Emerson College in Boston with her B.S. in Journalism, and then joined the WCYB news team in the Tri-Cities in July, 2015.

Heather Williams

Heather Williams joined News 5 WCYB in August of 2015 as the weekend sports anchor and a multimedia journalist. She has worked for stations in Chattanooga and Nashville.

Ricky Matthews

Ricky Matthews is the weekend morning meteorologist at News 5 WCYB. Ricky is also an avid pilot, having learned from his grandfather.

Greg is a multi-media journalist at WCYB, the #1 station in the Tri-Cities of Tennessee and Virginia. When he started in 2015, he brought four years of experience working in television newsrooms.
