Donnie came to the Tri-Cities already familar with this part of the country. Donnie is a Tennessean having grown up near Cookeville in the Upper Cumberland. Prior to coming to the Tri-Cities, he spent 20 years at the CBS affiliate station in Nashville.

Donnie studied meteorology at Mississippi State and holds the AMS Seal of Approval. His fascination with weather dates back to elementary school when he would draw out weather maps on the chalkboards in classrooms. In high school Donnie earned his pilot's license, which required quite a bit of weather study.

The Tri-Cities is home to Donnie's wife Janice. She is from Kingsport, where she grew up Janice Litton and attended Dobyns-Bennett High School.

Donnie has flown into two Category 5 Hurricanes (Mitch and Ivan) with the Hurricane Hunters. He was working in Nashville in 1998 when the tornado hit the downtown area. Janice says when there is a thunderstorm or when the tornado siren goes off, Donnie goes to the front porch to watch instead of taking cover as he tells other people to do.

Donnie is fascinated with space exploration and space flight as well. He has covered space shuttle launches for WCYB from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and watched nearly all of them on television.

Donnie came to WCYB in March 2010 as the weekend meteorologist and later added weekend morning news anchor to his weather duties. Donnie is now the Monday through Friday morning and noon meteorologist at WCYB.

Rebecca Pepin

Rebecca moved to the Tri-Cities in 2005 after living in Columbia, South Carolina for 5 years and working for WIS-TV.

Dave Dierks

The Tri-Cities has been home for Dave for more than 25 years. For more than two decades, he has been honing his skills on what he deems "a very challenging" part of the country to forecast the weather.


David Boyd

David grew up in east Tennessee and has always had a love for weather.

Chris Michaels

Chris Michaels is the weekend evening meteorologist at News 5 WCYB. Chris comes to us from North Carolina State University, where he got his degree in Meteorology.


Casey Goetz

Casey joined the News 5 team as Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter in August, 2010.


Olivia Caridi

Olivia Caridi is an Austin, Texas native who is excited to be living in the Tri-Cities. Olivia anchors the weekend news at 6 and 11pm on WCYB and the 10pm news on Fox Tri-Cities.

Kristen is a Savannah, Georgia native who moved to Johnson City to study journalism at Milligan College.

Tiana Bohner

Tiana comes to the Tri-Cities from Boston where she studied Broadcast Journalism at Boston University. While in college, Tiana interned at CNN in Atlanta as well as local stations in Boston and Honolulu.

Emily Carrier is a multimedia journalist for News 5 WCYB. Emily is a Bristol, Virginia, native and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Emory & Henry.

Kristi O'Connor

Kristi O’Connor is a multimedia journalist and producer for News 5 WCYB. While in school, she reported, produced and anchored for the school TV station and served as editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper.

Maggie Smolka

Maggie Smolka graduated Magna Cum Laude from Emerson College in Boston with her B.S. in Journalism, and then joined the WCYB news team in the Tri-Cities in July, 2015.
