Ryan's job may have saved by virtue of the Jets winning three of their final four games.Mike Wallace made a 5-yard touchdown catch for his fourth score in six weeks as the Dolphins (8-8) failed to secure their first playoff appearance since 2008. A woeful offense was to blame as Miami mustered a total of seven points in a pair of losses to end the season. After being benched in New York's 23-3 home loss to the Dolphins on Dec. 1, Smith (17-of-27, 190 yards) gave the Jets a 14-7 lead late in the second quarter by rushing up the middle for a 7-yard score. The Miami native bulled his way past linebacker Dannell Ellerbe for the final three feet, resulting in his sixth rushing touchdown.Nick Folk missed a 35-yard field-goal attempt early in the fourth quarter but redeemed himself from the same distance with 4:18 to play. Veteran cornerback Ed Reed reeled in his 64th career interception on the Dolphins' ensuing drive and Folk converted from 26 yards out to cap the scoring.GAME NOTEBOOK: After a lackluster first quarter, Wallace gained a step on Milliner and hauled in a touchdown pass over the middle early in the second. ... Miami WR Brian Hartline suffered a knee injury on the tail end of a 25-yard reception in the first quarter. Hartline, who did not return, became the fifth WR in team history to post back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. ... Richardson's two rushing touchdowns are the most by a defensive lineman since Chicago's William "The Refrigerator" Perry had a pair during the 1985 season.
