Johnson City, Tenn. - ETSU athletics unveiled a new logo as the Bucs get ready to begin their first season back in the Southern Conference.
At Wednesday's press conference, ETSU released a new primary and secondary logos. In addition, ETSU also released a new football helmet, basketball court design and new uniforms for several sports.
For the football program, a new helmet signifies the next step in the process as the Bucs prepare to hit the field in 2015. "As soon as I saw it, I said wow! It's a good looking helmet, it's a traditional helmet. It's a helmet that should be around with our brand for the next 50 years," said ETSU football coach Carl Torbush.
Another big announcement centered around a new home for the ETSU men's basketball team. The Bucs will begin playing all of their games in Freedom Hall this coming season. ETSU played three games in Freedom Hall last year.
ETSU athletic director Dr. Richard Sander says this move is perfect for the Bucs. "It's a big step for ETSU to do that. We were kind of forced to do it because of some issues with the roof at the dome. I think as we got into it more and more, we looked at the results from last year to use as a foundation to make a decision. It became more apparent to us it was the right thing to do," added Sander.
