Brad DeWeese is an assistant professor of Exercise and Sport Science at East Tennessee State University.
He's also an Olympic trainer for the United State Olympic two-man bobsled team that won a bronze medal Monday.
DeWeese moved to Johnson City last July after working at the Olympic training center in Lake Placid, NY.
His specialty is strength and conditioning and he continues to train Steve Holcomb and Steve Langston, the two Americans who took home the bronze medal in the two-man bobsled event in Sochi, Russia.
"I was sitting on the couch, watching on the internet, sweating bullets," DeWeese told News 5 WCYB.
"It came down to the final run. Holcomb drove clean and maintained the bronze medal position. I was first one off the couch."
The bronze medal is the first for the United States in the two-man bobsled competition since 1952.
DeWeese will continue to follow the 2014 Olympic games in Sochi, Russia. Since he moved to Johnson City, Tenn., he keeps up with his athletes online.
He has worked with nine Olympians competing this week.
