JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Monday that Brittney Ezell has been hired to replace Karen Kemp as women's basketball coach.

An introductory press conference is scheduled for Friday afternoon on campus.

Ezell went 41-52 in three years at Belmont, including an 18-14 record this year that included a Women's Basketball Invitational appearance. Belmont led the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring defense and ranked 19th nationally in field-goal percentage defense this year.

Ezell, a former basketball and softball player at Alabama, also coached at Division II program Montevallo and Northwest Florida State College. During her playing career, Ezell was a four-year starting point guard who helped Alabama reach four straight regional semifinals from 1995-98.

Ezell replaces Karen Kemp, who retired after going 272-277 in 19 seasons.
