The ETSU football program made several announcements Wednesday, exactly one year from its first official game against Kennesaw State.
The Bucs will open practice on Sept. 15 and will play four public scrimmages in the Tri-Cities.
The team's first scrimmage will be Sept. 27 and will include a "Game Time 101 Event" on campus.
“Our hope is that this Game Time 101 event will give our fans a sneak peek at what an ETSU game-day experience will be like,” ETSU Senior Associate Athletic Directior/COO Scott Carter said in a release.
“We want people to come out and tailgate throughout the day. We will have a jumbo-tron screen on hand so fans can watch ESPN Game Day, as well as keep up with their favorite national games from around the country."
The Bucs will scrimmage Oct. 2 at Tennessee High's Stone Castle in Bristol and then Oct. 23 at Dobyns-Bennett's J. Fred Johnson Stadium in Kingsport.
The final scrimmage will be held on homecoming Nov. 1.
Each of these fall events will be free to the public.
ETSU head coach Carl Torbush said the hope is to engage as many fans as possible throughout the region.
“Everywhere I go people are excited and supportive of our program,” Torbush said in a release.
“As we made plans for this fall, we definitely thought it made sense to go to Kingsport and Bristol for scrimmages, and to make it easy for people throughout the area to come and watch our young men.”
