Chicago VP weighs in on Bristol Sox
The Bristol White Sox are currently on a four-game losing after getting swept by the Danville Braves. They are last in the Appalachian League West Division standings.
But as Chicago White Sox Vice President and Assistant General Manager Buddy Bell explains, it's not always about the wins and losses in the minor leagues.
"We go out every game wanting to win," Bell told News 5 WCYB.
"Unfortunately most of the guys here are right out of high school playing against college kids. In this particular case the Danville club, that's their highest short season club. We normally struggle against teams like that."
Bell played 18 seasons in the majors and he coached and managed for 13 more. He knows all about the grind players must endure to advance from Bristol to the big leagues.
"Unfortunately very few of these kids will ever get to play in the big leagues. The most important thing now, is we try to slow the game down for the kids. We teach them where to be on every pitch."
