BRISTOL, Va. -

Bristol Baseball Inc. transitioned from a Chicago White Sox affiliate to a Pittsburgh Pirates team this off-season. Team officials unveiled their new logo Monday.

The logo that will appear on team apparel was inspired by the famous Bristol sign on State Street in downtown Bristol.

"We've always advertised and promoted ourselves as Bristol baseball," Bristol Baseball Inc. President Mahlon Luttrell told News 5 WCYB.

"We started talking about the sign that goes across State Street between the two towns. We thought it would be cool if we could fix something up with that. We got Pittsburgh to agree to it, they liked it."

The logo that will be featured on team caps is the traditional Pittsburgh Pirates letter logo.
