The 113-day NHL lockout is over and the season is scheduled to begin no later than Jan. 19.
According to NBC Sports' Pro Hockey Talk and online sportsbook Bovada, Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins are favored to win the Stanley Cup title in this abbreviated season.
The Penguins are listed as 8-1 favorites, followed by the New York Rangers at 17-2 and the Vancouver Canucks at 9-1.
The defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings are listed at 12-1.
On the other end of the spectrum, the Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets are listed at 50-1, followed by the New York Islanders at 66-1 and the Columbus Blue Jackets at 100-1.
