Johnson looks forward to new basketball recruits
James Johnson headed into his first offseason as Virginia Tech's men's basketball coach looking to scrutinize what went wrong.
The Hokies lost 19 of their last 25 games, and more bad news was coming. Sophomore guard Robert Brown, the Hokies' third-leading scorer, is transferring.
Still, Johnson can't wait for next season.
The Hokies will welcome five new players - four recruits and transfer Adam Smith. Johnson says after having just six scholarship players available at times this season, next year will be like getting new toys and trying to decide which one to play with first.
The infusion of talent is also needed for another reason: one player not returning is ACC player of the year Erick Green.
Green led the nation in scoring, but is graduating.
