The Atlanta Hawks kept leading scorer Josh Smith for another playoff run, but acquired veteran Dahntay Jones from the Dallas Mavericks in a smaller trade for shooting guard Anthony Morrow.
The Hawks explored dealing Smith right up until Thursday's trade deadline. His contract expires after the season. He has averaged 17.2 points a game.
Morrow and Jones are both in the final years of their contracts. Morrow averaged 5.2 points and shot 40 percent on 3-pointers in 24 games, while Jones has averaged 3.5 points in 50 games for the Mavs.
