ESPN.com first reported the decision, necessitated largely by Penske Racing opting to move to Ford engines starting in 2013.
Penske has been a Dodge team since 2003 but was affiliated only with Ford from 1994 to 2002.
Ford announced Monday the Penske engines would be provided by Roush-Yates. ESPN reported the move casts doubt about the Penske Racing motor department with more than 60 employees.
Dodge was out of NASCAR from 1978-2000 before returning in 2001.
