In the opening minute of the class 6A state quarterfinals in Tennessee, Maryville and Dobyns-Bennett each turned the ball over. But the Rebels capitalized first, using an 86-yard touchdown run from Trent Shuler to take a 7-0 lead.
Dobyns-Bennett never led and the Rebels built a 20-6 halftime lead.
The Indians threatened in the second half, using a Devaun Swafford touchdown early in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 27-20.
Maryville was able to pull away though, scoring two more touchdowns, winning 41-20.
Dobyns-Bennett's season comes to an end, finishing with a 12-1 record. Maryville advances to the state semifinals against Siegel.
