The Cloudland Highlanders will have to wait until Saturday to open the Tennessee Class 1A playoffs against Midland after Hurricane Sandy dropped more than 5 inches of snow in the area.
The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association announced Thursday that Friday night's game had been postponed until Saturday afternoon because of "inclement weather."
Cloudland is on Roan Mountain in upper East Tennessee near the North Carolina border and has an elevation of 6,285 feet.
It could be worse for the Highlanders (7-3). Mount LeConte at 6,600 feet in the Great Smokies National Park received 32 inches of snow from the storm.
