Toyota says it is recalling about 437,000 Prius and other Hybrid vehicles worldwide to fix break problems.
In Tokyo today, a company executive submitted papers for a safety recall to Japan's Ministry of Transport. The recall affects models that went on sale last year.
There have been about 200 complaints in Japan and the U.S. about a delay when the brakes are applied in some conditions, although the delay does not indicate a brake failure.
This is just the latest in a string of embarrassing safety problems at Toyota, the world's biggest automaker.
