An Elizabethton police dog was euthanized last night after being stabbed repeatedly when it bit three teenage boys.
The three 16-year olds went to the hospital with dog bites.
According to the Carter County Sheriff's Department report, the teens said they were shooting air soft guns in a field when the dog got out of it's nearby kennel and attacked them.
A witness told officers the dog did not appear to be aggressive until the boys started hitting and kicking it.
The boys stabbed the dog several times after it bit them. It had to be put to sleep at a local vets office due to the severity of its injuries.
The police department declined to comment until the T-B-I investigation is completed.
