Tennessee coach Derek Dooley has completed his coaching staff, announcing the addition of Chuck Smith as his ninth and final assistant.
The announcement from Tennessee came Friday afternoon. Smith is a former Volunteer who also played with Dooley at Clarke Central High School in the 1980s in Georgia.
Smith, 40, spent the past season with the NFL's New York Jets. He worked with now Jets head coach Rex Ryan in Baltimore in 2008.
He had 58½ career sacks in nine NFL seasons. He helped Tennessee to the 1990 Southeastern Conference title and a Sugar Bowl win. He was All-SEC in 1991 for a team that reached the Fiesta Bowl.
