A fast start to the 2009-10 season for the King College women’s basketball team gave way to turnovers in a 88-65 defeat Monday at Tusculum College.
The results gave King a 0-1 record to open the season while Tusculum starts 1-0.
An 11-0 run by the Lady Tornado to start the game forced Tusculum to call a 30-second time out 2:08 into the game. During the opening spurt, King knocked down three 3-pointers and forced three Tusculum turnovers. All four of King’s field goal attempts fell.
When it came to turnovers, 24 King turnovers led to 41 Tusculum points. The first half saw 29 of the 41 points off turnovers.
To answer King’s 11-0 start, Jasmine Gunn reeled off Tusculum’s first eight points. Gunn went onto a game-high 20 points.
