As always, the changing weather changes fishing. The clouds and rain brought this fish up so now we are looking at a sunny weekend. The high water should drain out of the mountain streams so things should be back to normal by the weekend. Slowly fish those nymphs downstream, If the water is still high, then tie on a bead head. Sulfurs are still hatching in the tailwaters. Otherwise go with pheasant tail nymphs and the tiny midges upstream. TVA shuts off the South Holston generators in the early afternoons so you can enjoy a little wade fishing. Meanwhile TVA's Wilbur Dam is back to normal operations so you can fish the Watauga. The rain colored the clear water and the clouds brought the fish up this week on South Holston Lake on the Bandit Crank baits, spinner baits and Long A Bombers. Fish the main lake and secondary points. Watauga Lake night fishing is great on spinner baits and jigs. On Cloudy days,it's the Bandit crank baits and Long A. In Boone Lake, they are starting catch them with by flipping jigs where you find stumps and logs. Cherokee has slowed a bit. They are still using crank baits and rattle traps. Now there's some action on flipping jigs. It may take a while for Douglas Lake to get back to normal. Lots of new water in Douglas from the heavy rains in North Carolina where the French Broad river was at flood stage. Water temperatures are in the upper 50s to low 60s in all the lakes so winter fishing hasn't started yet.
