Russell County Opens New Sites for Trash and Recycling

Illegal dump sites have been a problem in some southwest Virginia counties for years.  Today Russell County opened two new locations for trash and recyclables in Castlewood and Lebanon.

County leaders hope that offering people a better option to dispose of their trash will cut down on the illegal dumping along the side of the county's roads.

"This is a great facility here. It's gated and it's clean. And we're all working together to promote recycling efforts within our own community," said Tony Dodi, they mayor of Lebanon.

Both spots will have scheduled hours they'll be open for drop-off.
