ttaylor@wcyb.com

H1N1 vaccine shortage and safety took precedence on Capitol Hill yesterday. A house committee heard from public health experts on the shortage of the vaccine, and its impact.

Early estimates indicated 160 million doses would be available by the end of October. That actual number turned out to be 28 million. CDC Director Thomas Frieden acknowledged the problem.

The hearing was held by the house Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and related agencies subcommittee.
