Coming off an Appalachian Athletic Conference championship, and a NAIA tournament appearance, you'd think the King College Tornado are prepared for their first year as a division II school.
Well think again.
Starting point guard Kyle Savely has decided to leave the team, and pursue a rap career.
Yes, he's chosen runnin' rhymes over runnin' the court. This news puts a big dent in plans for the Tornado. The regular season starts November 17th, and that doesn't leave much time to find a 'New Savely'.
As a Junior in the AAC, Savely was 2nd in scoring last season, averaging 20 points per game. He also led the league in assists.
Obviously this is a tough loss, but head coach George Pitts and the team support Savely's choice to pursue a music career.
George Pitts:
"When a kid says, coach my heart isn't in it, you don't want that kid on your team. So now, the biggest thing for us is we're trying to settle on a point guard".
King College Junior, Mark Dockery
"We all support Kyle's decision. He is a teammate of ours, and he was here for 1 year and helped out this team. Now we are ready to move on and start our season".
