Tennessee is a step closer in making strides when it comes to public health.
East Tennessee State University's College of Public Health has received accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health. The university says it's the first school in Tennessee to earn that designation.
University officials say the accreditation has a term of five years. ETSU is now one of only 43 universities nationwide with this national distinction. The United Health Foundation ranks Tennessee 47th overall in state health rankings.
