IED Kills Seven More American Soldiers in Afghanistan

ttaylor@wcyb.com

Seven U.S. soldiers were killed earlier this week when the armored vehicle they were traveling in hit a bomb buried underground in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.

Video of the scene after the bombing was held for release by U.S. Military until the families of the soldiers killed in the incident could be notified.

The seven American soldiers and their Afghan interpreter were killed after completing an overnight patrol mission. Late Tuesday morning, three stryker vehicles were returning to base when one of the vehicles hit the improvised explosive device.

The blast flipped the 20-ton vehicle on to its side. The vehicle's thick armored plate, which was mounted beneath the vehicle to protect against mines, had been blown through the floor and roof.
