A search of local pawn shops after an October 16 home burglary has led to an arrest of Piney Flats man. Authorities say that Dustin Garland broke into a home on Poplar Grove Road and stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and electronics.
A detective was able to find some of the jewelry at a pawn shop and was able to track it to Johnson City resident James Cornett. Cornett admitted that he broke into the Piney Flats home, along with other homes around Johnson City. He also told officers that his son, Dustin Garland, was with him during the burglary in Piney Flats. Garland later admitted breaking into the residence.
