Bluff City Votes To ALlow Guns In Parks

Another town in our region takes action on the gun in parks law.  Last night, the Bluff City board of Mayor and Alderman, voted 3-2 to uphold the state law, allowing handgun permit holders to carry their weapons in parks.  The state of Tennessee passed the law earlier this year but they left it up to individual municipalities to make their own decision. Johnson City, Bristol, Tennessee and Jonesborough have all voted not follow the state's law, meaning they are banning permit holders to carry their weapons in parks.  Church Hill , Hawkins County, and Mountain City have all voted to stay with the state law.  Kingsport has yet to make a decision on the law.  City officials are expected to discuss the issue later this month.  The state law takes effect September 1st.
