JOHNSON CITY, Tenn -

A man is in jail following a robbery in Johnson City.

The Johnson City Police Department said they believe Wesley J. Porter approached a woman around 6:30 Saturday evening, punched her, threw her to the ground, and then stole her purse.

Police said the victim lost some dental work in the attack.  She was treated by paramedics at the scene and released.

JCPD officers said they arrested Porter and charged him with robbery and theft of property under $500.

Porter is held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $26,000 bond.

He is expected in court Monday.
