Wolf euthanized at Bays Mountain
Bays Mountain Park in Kingsport just had to euthanize one of its wolves.
10-year-old Wahya, which is Cherokee for "wolf," was put down because he had developed a disease that destroyed his nerves and was slowly becoming paralyzed.
Ranger Bob Culler says he was the alpha male of the pack. "The other male that's in there now will become alpha by default, so it will have an effect," he said. "The wolves that are there will mourn and look for Wahya."
The park is in the process of getting four or five pups next spring to increase the size of the pack.
