The CEO of Takoma Regional Hospital in Greeneville has made an announcement about Wellmont Health System's decision to drop them.
The hospital will be returned to Adventist Health System ownership, but some Wellmont partnerships will continue.
Wellmont says the decision was based on the nation's changing healthcare environment. Wellmont will continue to offer some services at Takoma, including heart care.
Takoma CEO Daniel Wolcott explains who will run the facility going forward. "The joint venture has been in place since 2007. Wellmont has owned 60 percent of Takoma Regional Hospital since that time, and Adventist Health System owns 40 percent, so now it will revert to 100 percent ownership back to the Adventist system, which is the way it was prior to 2007." he explained.
Wellmont leaders say patients will still get the same quality of care under the new ownership.
