BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. -

It was National Cancer Survivors Day on Sunday, which meant it was time to celebrate for more than 14 million Americans.

Wellmont Health System honored the survivors at Northeast State Community College.

Kingsport native Austin Moody gave a performance while the guests ate lunch. The survivors also had the chance to hear from an oncologist and a fellow survivor.

Lisa Housewright has been cancer-free for a year after a battle with Hodgkin Lymphoma. She said it's important for cancer patients to stay positive throughout their treatment.

"It was rough doing the treatments and all but if you've got a good support group and a lot of faith in God, you'll survive," Housewright said. "You just have to have that faith and have a lot of support."

Housewright went through treatment with many of the other survivors at the event. She told us she's glad to see they're doing okay.
