Convicted Big Stone Gap drug dealer gets 10 years in prison

A Big Stone Gap, Virginia man was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday following a hearing in Wise County Circuit Court.

James Edward Williams, 34, pleaded guilty to five counts of distribution of a Schedule I or II drug based on evidence presented by the Southwest Virginia Regional Drug Task Force.

Williams admitted to dealing cocaine, heroin, meth and other narcotics in the town between May and August 2016, according to a report from Commonwealth's Attorney Chuck Slemp.

The judge suspended 20 years of Williams' original 30-year sentence, the report said.
