Possible recount in Washington County, Tenn. Sheriff's race

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. - Election day is over, but the fight on who will be the Washington County, Tennessee sheriff is just starting.

Here's what happened -- Tuesday night, incumbent Ed Graybeal won by a total of just 13 votes against Jonesborough public safety director Craig Ford.

The campaign was laced with accusations directed at the incumbent with the theme of 'time for a change' from Ford. We spoke with Ford earlier today, and he tells us he is going to weigh his options when it comes to contesting the vote. "As I understand it, if you do ask for a recount you have five days to do that after the election results are certified," he said. "That gives us seven to ten days to look at it and see what the certified results are, and make a decision at that time."

Sheriff Graybeal is aware of the chances of a recount. He released a statement Wednesday evening that read, in part, "I do not feel like there are any grounds for the election to be contested. I have confidence in the Washington County election commission and the results that have been reported."

We'll continue to follow this race, and bring you updates on-air and via Twitter, Facebook and the web.
