Deputies: meth ingredients found in car, three men charged

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. - Three men are now facing drug charges in Washington County, Tennessee.

Sheriff Ed Graybeal says it all started on Friday, when deputies pulled over a car in Gray, Tennessee. Sheriff Graybeal says once the car was stopped, deputies smelled a strong chemical-type odor in and around the car.

Graybeal says K-9 Mali also alerted officers to the front of the vehicle, where, the sheriff says, deputies found pseudoephedrine tablets which had been soaked in starter fluid. In the trunk of the car, deputies say they also found several components to complete the meth-making process.

As a result of the find, deputies charged James Hale, of Gray, Michael Smith, of Greeneville, and Sean Byrd of Georgia, with promotion of meth manufacture. Bond was set at $10,000 for each.

We're told, the Tennessee Meth Task Force was called in to help neutralize the components for cleanup.
