A Galax, Va. man accused of killing a woman and her infant daughter was sentenced to 60 years in prison Tuesday after he pleaded guilty in September to producing multiple child pornography videos.
Richard Denny Nofsinger, 37, was arrested back in May 2016 in connection with the murders of Alyssa Kenny and her infant daughter Anastasia Alley. Police said their bodies were found on March 10, 2016.
Nofsinger was sentenced by Judge James Jones in Abingdon. Authorities said that eight videos were found on Nofsinger’s cellphone which contained sexually explicit images of children. The videos also showed Nofsinger engaging in sexual conduct with at least two different children.
Authorities added that Nofsinger had gained the trust of single mothers to sexually abuse their young children.
“This defendant is a serial predator, repeatedly targeting the most vulnerable in our community – single mothers and their young children,” Acting U.S. Attorney Rich Mountcastle said. “On repeated occasions he gained the trust of single mothers to gain access to their toddlers so he could film himself engaging in sexual acts with those children. The court’s sentence takes a dangerous, serial predator out of our community and probably saved other single mothers and their children from future despicable acts by this defendant. I ask parents to be extra cautious about who you trust to care for your children.”
