Longtime Lebanon town manager terminated, under police investigation

Lebanon's longtime town manager is terminated. News 5 has learned he is now facing a state police investigation.

On Monday night, the Lebanon Town Council voted 4-2 to dismiss Michael Duty of his town manager duties. He served in that role since 1992.

In the aftermath, council members will not discuss the reason. We confirmed state police have started an investigation based on a complaint received by Commonwealth's Attorney Brian Patton.

The nature of the complaint is not yet known. Town hall workers say the minutes of the meeting will not be released until next month's council meeting.

Residents in town, including Patty Puckett, just learned of the firing Tuesday morning.

"Nothing shocks me anymore," Puckett said.

Resident Beverly Martin said, "I think you do not get all of the information. I think there's a lot that will stay quiet about it."

Lebanon Mayor Tony Dodi said by phone he and the council will take over the manager's responsibilities. He said town supervisors are overseeing daily operations.

He said the council has plans to discuss a possible interim appointment at their next meeting November 13.

We also reached out to Michael Duty for comment, but have not heard back.
