Virginia Tech to soon begin search for new president
The search for the new president of Virginia Tech will begin soon.
A search committee has now been appointed to find a replacement for retiring president Dr. Charles Steger. Steger announced his retirement earlier this month after serving since 2000.
The school announced Friday it has formed the 22 member search committee which is made up of members of the board, faculty and students. The committee will hold its first meeting on June second. It will meet in Blacksburg and elsewhere in the state and solicit input through its website www.presidentialsearch.vt.edu .
There is not a timeline for naming the new president. Dr. Steger says he will remain in his position until a replacement is found.
