Virginia Army National Guard Christmas party
GATE CITY, Va. -

Members of the Virginia Army National Guard had their Christmas party on Sunday.

There were 150 soldiers with their families who gathered in Gate City, Va.

We're told there were about 300 people total at the event.

Some traveled all the way from the Piedmont and Chesapeake Bay areas.

Captain Edward A. Robbins III told us it's nice to get everyone together.

"It's a tribute to our soldiers for all the work they do during the year," he said. "We just take off time to get everybody together and thank them for all the hard work and appreciation."

The organization Partnerships for America provided more than 200 gift bags for the families.

They were filled with coloring books, toys and games.
