JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -

Monday night people at the Carver Recreation Center in Johnson City paid tribute to our local veterans.

Veterans shared stories from their days in combat and offered their views on the state of nation today.

We spoke with a former marine who fought in the Vietnam War and he told us that he just doesn't want people to forget their sacrifices.

"Remember to keep us in mind for the sacrifices that we made for the freedom that we enjoy today as Americans," said Theodore Patterson.

A reception for the veterans followed the ceremony.
