RICHMOND, Va. -

The U.S. Treasury Department has agreed to release Virginia’s portion of a settlement in the amount of $115 million.

We've learned the money is from the 2012 Abbott Laboratories Medicaid fraud investigation in which the Office of the Attorney General acted as the lead investigator.

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli says the money is because of the hard work of the staff of the Virginia Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.

Cuccinelli says the money will be spent on law enforcement.

Money from the Abbott settlement has already been dispersed to Medicaid recipients.
