BRISTOL, Tenn. -

A candidate running for U.S. Senate this November made a stop in Bristol this weekend.

Joshua James, from Murfreesboro, is running as a conservative independent. He chose to walk across the entire state of Tennessee introducing himself to people along the way.

He started august 16th in Mud Island. James tells News 5 he doesn't feel represented, and he wants to find out why that is.

He says the biggest issue he sees in Tennessee is that people can't find good, sustainable jobs, and he wants to change that.

"They say you don't understand who a man is and why he does the things he does until you walk a mile in his shoes. Well, I'm going to walk a lot of miles," James adds.

James is campaigning against incumbent Lamar Alexander, who won the Republican primary at the start of August in a landslide, and against Democrat candidate Gordon Ball.
