Two men facing charges after armed robbery in Washington County
Two men are facing charges after deputies say they robbed a Washington County, Tennessee home at gunpoint early Monday morning.
A group of friends and co-workers were watching an NFL game inside a house on Pickens Bridge Road when someone broke in and robbed them at gunpoint.
The homeowner tells us they heard something at the back door, that's when they looked out and saw the two men wearing black masks. The home owner says the suspect forced some men on the ground and they put a gun in his face and demanded things from them. "They took about $2,000 in cash, a wallet, two watches, the victim's shotgun and two iPhones," said Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal.
Graybeal tells us the men had shotguns and used them to scare the victims. "When they walked in apparently one of them shot the shotgun into the floor of the basement to get everyone's attention," he said.
The homeowner tells us several people at his house recognized the suspects by their voices. "They knew the house, they had been there before. The people that were there, even though they had the ski masks on, they knew who they were so they gave us an immediate description on who they were and that they were driving," says Graybeal.
Graybeal tells us the victims identified the suspects as 37-year-old Nathan A. Silvers and 49-year-old Jamie L. Silvers of Flag Pond. Graybeal says the two are brothers.
The sheriff said since the victims could give his officers a good description of the car, they were able to get it out quickly to other law enforcement agencies. "Sullivan County and Bristol Police stopped the vehicle close to Walmart and the guys still had the clothes [they wore during the robbery] on. They had the shotguns with them, had the money with them, and all those things," adds Graybeal.
Jamie Silvers was arrested and taken to the Sullivan County Jail for driving under the influence in that jurisdiction. Nathan Silvers was arrested and taken to the Washington County Tennessee Jail.
Jamie and Nathan Silvers are both charged with four counts of armed robbery, 11 counts of attempted armed robbery and 15 counts of reckless endangerment in Washington County.
