A threat led to a lockdown at two schools in Elizabethton Wednesday afternoon.

News 5 spoke with Barry Pettit, who is the pastor of East River Park Christian Church.

He says a man outside of the church threatened to bomb the church congregation after an argument with a member over a business arrangement.

Pettit says the church is closed tonight.

Elizabethton Chief of Police Greg Workman says Elizabethton High School and Westside Elementary School were put on lockdown at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Petit's wife works at Westside Elementary which is the reason behind the lockdown.

He says the soft lockdown at the two schools may continue Thursday.

The investigation is ongoing.

Two schools in Elizabethon are on a soft lockdown after a threat was made to a preacher in the city.

Elizabethton Chief of Police Greg Workman says, Elizabethton High School and West Side Elementary School were put on lockdown starting at 9:00 a.m.

Workman says the lock down began because a threat was made to a preacher in the city, and he has family members in both West Side Elementary and Elizabethton High School.

Workman says the two schools will remain on soft lockdown until possibly tomorrow.
